Tea, a drink with jam and bread.... - The Sound of Music Reviews
An outstanding, classic family perrenial, I grew up watching this film with MY family, and it has become a beloved title in my film library. So many people dismiss this beautiful movie as "sickening" and "sugar sweet", and maybe it is. However, from the moment Julie Andrews starts triwling around with reckless joyfilled abandon on that hilltop in the opening sequence, I, for one, am instantly hooked. Singing like an angel from heaven, Julie Andrews has never been more beautiful and charming and just plain perfect than she was in TSOM. And Christopher Plummer, as the crusty sea captain and father of 7 prankpulling children is the perfect match for Maria's (Andrews) nun. In fact, there is sooo much chemistry between them, I'm surprised the set didn't blow up! The music is all wonderful, as is the breathtaking cinematography, and, ultimatly, so is the message of this all time classic. Climb Every Mountain, indeed. One of the best films of all time!!!
